After losing 10kg in the first stage of my weight loss journey after 40, I started thinking about maintaining my progress and continuing to lose more weight. But sometimes life gets in the way — and recently, that’s exactly what happened to me.
Although I had made strong progress earlier in my journey (which I shared in my post about losing 10kg in one month after 40), I eventually started feeling stuck again. Stress affected my routine more than I expected over the past few weeks, and it slowly became harder to stay consistent with healthy meals and regular activity.
Instead of hiding this part of my journey, I decided to share what really happened and how I am getting back on track.
Because weight loss after 40 is not just about food or exercise — it’s also about real life.
Weight Loss After 40 Is Not Just About Food or Exercise
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned from my experience is that weight loss after 40 involves more than diet plans and workouts.
Stress plays a big role too.
Over the last few weeks I noticed:
- my energy dropped
- my routine changed
- my meal times became inconsistent
- I stopped posting as regularly here
These small changes slowly affected my weight loss progress more than I expected.
How Stress Impacts Weight Loss After 40
Stress affects both our emotional and physical health.
It can influence:
- how much we eat
- how well we sleep
- how much energy we have during the day
All of these things directly affect weight loss progress.
According to Harvard Health Publishing, stress can increase cortisol levels, which may make it harder to maintain healthy habits consistently over time.
For me personally, the biggest challenge wasn’t motivation — it was losing my routine.
When routines change, progress usually slows. But it also creates an opportunity to rebuild structure again.
There Is No Shame in Starting Again
When progress slows down, it can feel discouraging.
But slowing down does not mean failing.
Starting again is still progress.
This journey was never meant to be perfect — it was meant to be real. And real journeys include pauses, adjustments, and restarts.
Where I’m Going From Here
Instead of trying to change everything at once again, I am focusing on small steps that feel manageable and realistic:
- balancing my dinner portion sizes
- increasing my protein intake
- drinking more water each day
- creating a simple weekly routine again
- posting consistently on the blog again
Smaller steps are easier to manage and easier to maintain long term.
Why I’m Sharing This Part of My Weight Loss Story
This blog is part of my Blooming Again journey.
Sometimes growing means:
starting again
adjusting again
trying again
And that is exactly where I am right now.
Sharing this stage of my journey helps me stay accountable, but I also hope it encourages someone else who may feel like their progress has slowed.
Because slowing down does not erase the progress you already made.
Why Restarting Slowly Works Better Than Restarting Perfectly
In the past, when I tried to restart my weight loss routine too quickly, I ended up feeling overwhelmed and discouraged.
This time I am choosing a different approach:
- eating balanced meals again
- choosing simple dinner options
- reducing sugar gradually
- drinking more water daily
Pressure rarely creates lasting results.
Consistency does.
My Focus Right Now Is Consistency
Right now, my goal is not speed.
It is consistency.
Earlier in my journey, I shared how I lost 10kg in one month after 40, and that progress still motivates me as I rebuild my routine step by step again.
This is just the next chapter of my weight loss journey after 40 — and I’m continuing forward, one small step at a time.
